Describe the location and nature of the chromosomal matter of prokaryotic cells.
Although prokaryotic cells do not have a nuclear membrane, prokaryotic cells do have a nuclear region, called the nucleiod, where their chromosomal matter is found. Prokaryotic cells' genome usually consists of a single, large, circular DNA molecule that lacks the proteins associated with the DNA of eukaryotic cells. But like a eukaryotic chromosome, a prokaryotic chromosome bears the genes that control the metabolism of the cell as well as its hereditary traits. And, as does eukaryotic DNA, prokaryotic DNA directs protein synthesis via mRNA in ribosomes.
